Since I last wrote here we have completed our game “Ibsen Voyage” which you can see a short sample of in the previous post, we have also done an analysis of the arts and graphics in different games. The game I analyzed was “Team Fortress 2”, I’m not gonna go into details about that assignment.

It’s now time to right a post mortem for the last game we produced and after that’s done I will get a little break for the christmas holidays.

I have also started a sideproject to improve my programming skills outside of school, it’s a small game which I will try to develop for Android OS but I’m not going to spoil any details about it just yet!

See you around!

A short in-game video of our latest creation "Ibsen Voyage"

A short in-game video of our latest creation "Ibsen Voyage"

AI? Can't be that hard can it?

So today I kept working with some navmeshing, I designed a room which I filled with navmesh for the AI to find paths on. I had my ups and downs (read “thats not entirely wrong”s and “mental breakdowns”) but when it was time to call it a day I was quite satisfied with my accomplishments. But for a newbie to get into the codes we’re modifying right now is not very easy so I hope to get the work done in time!

Every day I'm programming!

I’ve finally managed to get my blog up! (and there was much rejoicing)

So I should probably start by introducing myself.
My name is Marcus Oldebring and I’m studying my first year of game programming at Södertörn University, Stockholm (Sweden).

This is a short list of what we’ve done so far:

A couple of board games
A small serious game with the development tool Scratch
Two game jam games using the Unity3d Engine (two games in one week was tough but fun!)
One bigger casual game project, in three weeks my Scrum-team came up with the game “Hyper Ramiro” which was kind of a spoof of the famous platformer “Super Mario”. It was challenging but very useful and I learned so much by doing that!

Right now we are in the middle of a project where the task is to make a dialoguebased game in 3-4 weeks, we’ve got one and a half week to go and I believe it’s going to be a lot of crunching next week!
